i enjoyed fatmumslim's daily photo challenge so much this past month that i think i'm going to play along in april too! using instagram and my iphone made it less daunting so while i may try using the canon for as many photos this month as possible, at least i know it won't be a chore to complete the challenge as long as i have my phone. here's a look at the themes for april for anyone interested in joining me.

goodbye winter!
last week we said goodbye to winter with a quick trip to big bear. justin was on spring break and i took a couple of days off of work so we could go play in the snow. we visited with some friends who live there and even took a cool tour of the mitsubishi cement mine. so most of these pictures are actually from the mine. we even got to watch an explosion. (don't worry, we were a safe distance away)

DIY growth chart
this is technically a semi-DIY project. i saw these awesome surfboard growth charts on zulily one day but even on sale they were $150! luckily, a friend's father is super handy with woodwork and offered to make us a board for the cost of the wood. (thanks again Mr. B!) so i stained it, justin painted some hibiscus flowers on it, and we filled it with saraya's measurements from birth to 6, 12 and 18 months. isn't it great?
