tomorrow, june 8th is world oceans day. it's an unofficial (since 2002) celebration around the planet of "the body of water that links us all, for what it provides humans and what it represents." and what does it provide and represent? well, for one, it generates most of the oxygen we breathe. it also provides food, regulates our climate, provides limitless inspiration and more! the least we can do is pick one day to celebrate and honor the ocean. let's educate ourselves and others about conservation of this precious resource. you can wear blue, tell two.
- i pledge not to eat meat on mondays
- i pledge to take reusable grocery bags to the store
- i pledge to get a reusable water bottle (this one is our favorite)
- i pledge to buy local food first (yay for farmer's markets!)
if you use facebook or twitter you can tag your pledge with #WorldOceansDay or @CelebrateOceans when you share!
also, dr. seuss enterprises has teamed up with the ocean project, the association of zoos and aquariums, and random house children's books for the past few years. through zulily, i got a great deal on some dr. seuss books (like mcelligot's pool) to add to our collection. the sale started yesterday so check it out quickly before everything's gone.
Yay! Thanks for sharing this!
