lavender hill pumpkins

these are johnny gruelles (named for the creator of raggedy ann & andy).  we got one each to represent our little family.

it's finally feeling like fall!  well, as autmun-like as it ever feels here in sunny socal, that is...
this week we welcomed october in with a trip to a pumpkin patch.  we checked out a new patch (new to us) that was a little closer to home than the one we went to last year.  we loved it!

lavender hill pumpkin farm is a family-owned farm has been around for about 7 years.  it's located in fallbrook, ca and they have about 3 dozen varieties of pumpkins.  if you're looking for a patch with rides, games, and food, i suggest you go to bates nut farm out in valley center.  it's a huge farm with a ton of activities.  but this place was perfect for just picking out some pumpkins (and maybe swinging on a swing).  everything is personalized.  they even name their pumpkins!

we found a few favorites and though we will still probably go to a big crazy busy patch later this season, i still highly recommend this farm to our local friends.

just a few of the many varieties

what's better than swinging in the sun in the middle of a pumpkin patch?

contemplating

"i want to pick up this one!"

a few of the tiny ones that made it home with us

we also got a couple of larger ones for carving/decorating.  last year i tried something different with melted crayons.  this year i think i'll do at least one pumpkin in a different way too.  happy october!

  1. Looks like a Happy, Fun Day! Love the little pumpkin "family" and the sweet shots of Saraya.

  2. If you want to do Bates one day, let me know. The girls have been bugging me to stop in and by one of their Big Mac pumpkins, the really big ones.
